Little Dragons
Syllabus based classes mixing Traditional Chinese Kung Fu with Kickboxing and sparring for children aged 6-10 years
The Little Dragons was the first children specific class we started at the NCCMA. Originally run for children of those already training Lau Gar Kung Fu, it quickly grew by word of mouth. Little Dragons classes are designed for children aged 6-10 years of age teaching them a simplified version of the Lau Gar syllabus. The Little Dragons, like the Little Lions mixes Kung Fu, with Kickboxing skills to develop skills that suits the energy and abilities of the students in Little Dragons.
The students are able to progress though grading to higher and higher levels, each rewarding success with a certificate and belt. Classes consist of physical exercise, team and individual games, that promote awareness, focus, accuracy and of course fun! Students of the Little Dragons also learn kicking techniques, punching techniques, forms, 2 person attack and block routines and for those who feel confident enough, some light
sparring. Despite seeming like a frightening thing to do, it often seems that the students love to be fully padded up and then try to core points against each other in a times bout.
IMPROVED CONFIDENCE
Students with low self confidence and even degrees of Autism have shown remarkable levels of improvement from engaging in a Martial Art at the NCCMA. Through close interaction and contact activities with other students, as well as encouragement from peers, instructor and parents, we regularly see big improvements that have widespread bearing on the child’s future.
INCREASED FITNESS
In this official survey by the NHS, it was discovered that 16.6% of boys and 16.7% of girls aged under ten are obese. The UK Government recommend one hour of exercise a day for children. Is your child getting enough exercise? School curriculums do not allocate physical education daily, and whilst 'running around in the playground might seen to be a substitute, do you really know if the play is sufficient or offering any value?
DISCIPLINE
Is all about your child learning appropriate behaviours. Children who develop the important life skills to control their behaviour, are more likely to achieve lifelong success. The ability to listen, take instruction, awareness of others, and the effects of your reactions.
INCREASED CONCENTRATION
Concentration helps us study and assists understanding, improves our memory, and helps us focus on our goals or tasks, making us more efficient.
MANNERS AND SOCIAL SKILLS
We stress the importance of good manners in our classes and our team building games help with social skills. Learning how to work with others, respect and tolerance are all part of the kind of skill students will learn.
LEARN TO AVOID CONFRONTATION / INCREASED AWARENESS
Bullying and getting into awkward situations can be avoided most of the time with the correct knowledge and awareness. This is a core part of our syllabus.
AVOID BEING A VICTIM OF BULLYING
Being confident enough to deal with all types of situations and the verbal skills to assert yourself. Simply being confident, can be enough to ensure that you don't become a victim in any stage of life. Confidence comes from within; being sure you can deal with situation, being comfortable and being aware.
